Blessings and Gratitude
For many people, the word blessing refers to a gift or need to be met by a higher power. I agree with that interpretation and feel we are all more blessed than we think. Unfortunately, we are unable to store extra blessings and use them when a need arises. Did you know that the heart acts similarly?
The heart’s function is to pump blood throughout the body – not store it. When things are going well with your body, your heart does not miss a beat, and blood flows efficiently. Likewise, many will say you are blessed when things are going well for you.
When life gets tough, we struggle to find blessings. During these times, focusing on all that you have to be grateful for can help you find more blessings. We can not control the blessings in our lives, but we can be thankful for our experiences, no matter what they are.
Blessings cannot be stored up for later use. They are here and now. You determine when to bless someone and someone chooses to bless you. When they happen, stop and remember where you are and what you are thankful for.
During a recent sermon at church, I was reminded how we can not store blessings just as the heart does not store blood. This song was also sung as we took communion together. I hope you will take some time to listen to the video below. I am sure it will be a blessing to you.
Be grateful in all things,
