Finding Hope in Unexpected Places
If you have read some of my previous posts, I hope you have picked up a theme of hope, love, and/ or gratitude in each one. If you are new here, my goal is to provide words of inspiration in these posts using hope, love, and/ or gratitude.
Today, I focus on finding hope in unexpected places like the physical therapy office. One of the challenges of my significant surgeries, anesthesia, and getting older is I have some muscle issues in my back and neck that create headaches.
A few weeks ago, I was sitting in the waiting room for my physical therapist and began talking to a gentleman who had had a severe hand and arm injury. He had what looked to be a robotic or mechanical hand that assisted him in moving his fingers. It was cool to see it work.
In my brief conversation with him, he told me how much things had improved since getting the device. He was able to do more things, including picking up small items from the floor. As he talked about it, you could hear the excitement in his voice.
Unfortunately, our chat was cut short when I was called back. I ended our conversation with a quip about how his attitude showed me how hopeful he was for what was next. As I waited for my therapist to come in, all I could think about was how a brief conversation in the waiting room reminded me to be grateful for what I have and always have hope for what is next.
