Hopefulness
I have been working on a talk for a faith-based group in the Fall. I have been bouncing around the theme of hope. I am not certain that will be the overarching message of the talk, but it is something to consider.
During this process, I have been reading many stories of hope and quotes on hope. I found one from someone I am familiar with but have not followed recently—Brene Brown. She has some amazing work.
If we want to cultivate hopefulness, we have to be willing to be flexible and demonstrate perseverance.
– Brene Brown
This says that being hopeful means being open to change and patient – two things I am typically reluctant to agree to, even after many setbacks. Things may be different from what you initially hoped.
Life is full of surprises, some good and some not-so-good. Over the years, I have learned that surprises often teach us a valuable lesson that is only realized much later.
