Some Days Require Slowing Down
Life is full of ups and downs—well, at least my life is. I know each day is a gift and that I should take advantage of it, but do I really take advantage of it?
Some days, I find joy; some days, I find defeat. Thankfully, there are more joyful days than defeats. A defeated day is when my body or mind reminds me I am human. I can tire out from too much physical or mental activity. Usually, this happens after I have ‘burned the candle at both ends’ for a few days or have traveled. It can also happen when I have been more social than typical, visiting with friends or entertaining.
This is not unusual for people who have chronic health issues. Most of the time, we appear to others as healthy and normal but could be struggling inside. I have learned over the years that this is fairly normal for people like me, but at times, I feel normal, and that is when I get in trouble.
These times remind me how far I have come with my health, and I should be more grateful. These ‘slower’ times are good and encourage me to take advantage of slower days and the joy they bring.
Even on bad days, I remain grateful for my experiences and look forward to where they will take me.
Take a moment to think about the things for which you are grateful!
